Now that u know, lets get serious…………..

problem uninstalling studio 8

January4

I see a Studio frustrating a lot of people during uninstallation. Below are some instructions to help you get out of it.

Here is the easiest solution:

  1. Close Dreamweaver.
  2. Click the Start button, choose Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, then select Dreamweaver 8.
  3. Click the “Change” button instead of the “Remove” button, if you want to delete your Dreamweaver user configuration settings. Clicking the Remove button here retains your Dreamweaver customizations. If you are uninstalling Dreamweaver in order to troubleshoot a problem, it’s recommended to delete your user configuration settings, in case they’ve become corrupted.
  4. When the InstallShield Wizard gets to the “Program Maintenance” screen, select “Remove” then click the Next button.
  5. Select “Remove Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 preferences and configuration files for all users”. Note: You may experience a delay of a few minutes after you click the Remove button.
  6. Allow the uninstall wizard to finish.

Its pretty simple to do the above, if u want more instructions to satisfy ur techie-apetite, do have a look at the previous post

  7. Allow the uninstall wizard to finish.
  8. Browse your hard drive and verify that the following folders have been deleted. Manually delete them if they are still present:
    All Studio applications:

Warning about steps 9 & 10: Editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require reinstalling your operating system. Macromedia does not guarantee that problems caused by editing the registry incorrectly can be resolved. Edit the registry at your own risk.

  9. Once the uninstall has finished, go to Start > Run > type “regedit” > and delete this registry key which holds your Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks site definitions:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Common\8\Sites
  10. While in the registry, also verify that the following keys have been deleted by the InstallShield Wizard. Manually delete them if they are still present:
    Dreamweaver:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Dreamweaver\8

    Flash:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Flash 8
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Flash\8

    Fireworks:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Fireworks\8
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Fireworks\8

    Contribute:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Contribute 3
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Contribute\3
  11. After doing the steps above, reinstall Dreamweaver 8 with your anti-virus software disabled. If you are on Windows XP and you uninstalled Dreamweaver in order to troubleshoot a problem, then re-install.

Macromedia Dreamweaver gone crazy in french!

November17

I have a wierd problem.

Downloaded the french installation in uTorrent by mistake.

Yes, all i had to do was uninstall it, and download english version and reinstall that.

did that and a lot, but no luck, even english installation shows up with french menus!!!
iam not about to learn french just for that, maybe out of my interest, but not for this!

I know i know, i tried restoring back to before-installation-date.

TWICE……nothing,

then i downloaded and cracked Registry Mechanic 6.5,

and i had to stare at its result:

853 ERRORS!

BUY TO REPAIR THEM AUTOMATICALLY!!

:) well dint buy, but fixed them alright!

Installed Macromedia(yeah English, not french) , but what do u know, FRENCH menus are back! They are funky but i need ‘em in English!!
